Roles for a typical Sunday at St Peter's

All the below are performed on a rota basis.

During the service

Two acolytes and a thuriferFour servers

Two acolytes, one thurifer and one M.C assist the clergy during the service. Arrive on Sunday at 9.30am to prepare and help clear up afterwards.

Welcoming to St Peter'sFour welcomers, 'sidesmen'

Welcome congregation and visitors, and give out hymn books. Help tidy up afterwards.

 

Two lesson readers
Read appointed bible readings. (Gospel reading read by Priest or Deacon.)

An intercessor
Prepares and reads the prayers for the service.

Two offertory procession
Carry up the bread and wine for the Eucharist.

Two chalice assistants
Help administer the wine for the Eucharist.


After the service

Two money counters
Count the collection and get it ready for banking.

Two coffee makers
Serve tea and coffee after the service in the church hall. Wine often provided on birthdays.
